Sales Consignment

The year 2006 will go down as a year of milestones at Indian Creek. It was a year in which Indian Creek led North American consignors in weanling* and yearling** average at over $200,000. In addition to raising and selling a $5.2 million Danzig yearling at Keeneland September, which was the second highest auction price ever for an offspring by the venerable sire, we raised not one but two weanlings that went on to set North American records at Keeneland November.

Montjeu--Elbaaha (IRE) weanling colt sold for $2.7 million at Keeneland November 2006

Two North American Records…. One Day….

The excitement started when hip 385, a strapping bay weanling colt by Montjeu out of Elbaaha (GB), was led into the ring. Jaws began to drop as the bidding surged past 1 million, then 2 million, with the gavel finally falling at $2.7 million setting a new North American record for a weanling at auction.

Barely 90 minutes later, a filly raised in the same pastures walked in front of the auctioneer to spark a bidding war. $2.4 million later the filly, by Gone West out of Breeders’ Cup winner Islington, had a new owner and history was made as she became the highest auction price ever paid in North America for a weanling filly.
